Northwest Glendale HOA Schedules Crime Safety Meeting, Second Identity Theft Attempt Seen 1

ID Theft: What It’s All About, will cover real estate fraud, personal safety, phone scans, elder financial abuse, and provide opportunities for questions about identity theft and other concerns, with discussion led by Northwest Glendale Community Lead Officer Kelly Annis.

Thursday, July 15, 7:30 p.m.
Brand Library Auditorium
1601 W. Mountain Street
Glendale, California

This meeting was organized by the Northwest Glendale Homeowners Association after a Grandview Avenue resident observed a man going through papers in recycling bins on the street.
A second incident makes this a major continuing concern —

What a resident witnessed on Mountain Street in Northwest Glendale this morning: a man rummaging through a resident’s recycling bin and removing a bag filled with paper! The man put the bag into his van, then moved toward the next recycling bin, where he was confronted by the homeowner asking him what he was doing.

The guy was really surprised and started stepping back into his van. He didn’t say anything but that ‘he was out of job.’ While we would like to believe that it was just someone going through our bin looking for cans and bottles for recycling, this was not the case. In our experiences, typically someone looking for recycled cans and bottles sift through the bags and you see him/her taking out those specific items. So beware out there and be alert to anyone going through your trash bins!
