Safe and Healthy Streets City-Wide Wrapup Tonight

Glendale’s own pedestrian and bicycling safety initiative, the Safe and Healthy Streets program, will hold the last of its fall community meetings tonight to present public input on ways to make walking and bicycling safer and to take any additional comments.

Coordinator Colin Bogart held one overview meeting and three neighborhood meetings to hear from those who live or work in Glendale about what works and what doesn’t for pedestrians and bicyclists. Tonight’s meeting will cover the main findings, but is also an opportunity for more suggestions and refinements.

One of Glendale’s car-less residents said the most dangerous places for her are grocery store driveways leading to the street, because shoppers aren’t looking for pedestrians along the sidewalk (perhaps they devote all their attention to people walking in the parking lot to or from their cars). Comments like these are useful when streets and walkways are upgraded.

Don’t miss out on your chance to influence future transportation policies and street configurations in the city of Glendale! Show up tonight at the Central Library, 222 E. Harvard Street, at 6:30 p.m., for the Safe and Healthy Streets City-Wide Wrapup.
