Fair Use Footage in Documentary Films – Presentation by New Media Rights

November 8, 2014 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Doculink, an online all-volunteer, grassroots network of over 3000 documentary filmmakers around the world, will host a discussion of Fair Use Footage in documentary filmmaking with attorney Art Neill of New Media Rights. Fair Use is a legal use of copyrighted images, by people who have not obtained permission. Most common uses are in journalism, educational and instructional filmmaking.

Mr. Neill is the founder of New Media Rights, a non-profit, independently funded program of California Western School of Law that provides legal services education, and public policy advocacy for Internet users and creators. He practices public interest law in the areas of internet, intellectual property, and communications law. He is an adjunct professor of law at California Western School of Law where he teaches the course Internet & Social Media Law, primarily focused on Internet, Intellectual Property, licensing and online publishing law.

The event is free and sponsored by the Glendale Library, Arts & Culture Department. Central Library visitors receive three hours free parking across the street on Harvard at The MarketPlace parking structure with validation at the Central Library Loan Desk.
