GCC Concert Singers Auditions

Auditions for GCC Concert Singers. Interested singers can set up an audition prior to the first rehearsal as well. The group will perform Te Deum by Estonian composer Arvo Part. Dr. Peter Green says, “I think we will be the first group in California to perform this work.”

Concert date this semester is earlier than usual – Sunday, May 6 at 4:00 p.m. The dress rehearsal will be the Saturday prior – May 5 from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Denise Hamilton lives in Glendale with her family, and has supported the Glendale library as an author and patron. She moderated the recent LA Noir library event.

Hollywood Left and Right: How Movie Stars Shaped American Politics – Author Event at Glendale Library

Steve J. Ross, professor of History at USC and co-director of the LA Institute for the Humanities, says that Hollywood has a longer history of conservatism than liberalism, and that the Hollywood Right has had a greater impact on American political life.

His book, Hollywood Left and Right, received the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ Film Scholars Award, the academic equivalent of an “Oscar” and has been nominated for a Pulitzer Prize.

Armenian Women Gather for Joint Service

Women from 30+ Southern California Armenian churches have gathered together each year since 1969 at a designated host church for a service of prayer and reflection in conjunction with Women’s World Day of Prayer, an observance begun in the United States in 1927 by Church Women United.
