Last Week at the Alex: Michael Lewis Takes on Wall Street, Glendale Pops Rocks the House

The Alex Theatre was sold out for author Michael Lewis’ appearance April 10 to discuss his just-published book Flash Boys: A Wall Street Revolt. This was another great Live Talks Los Angeles event, with Malcolm Gladwell interviewing Lewis about the moral themes of his work and drawing Biblical parallels.

Lewis is the author of Liar’s Poker, Moneyball, The New New Thing, and many other great reads that illuminate the dark corners of modern finance and business. Flash Boys has set off a big reaction on Wall Street and in the press; Sony Pictures wants the film.

Just two days later, fans in the know came to the Alex to hear the Glendale Pops deliver the best of all their outstanding performances to date with Fusion: Jazz That Rocks, a tribute to Steely Dan, Chicago and Blood Sweat & Tears. Honestly, every piece sounded better and richer than the recorded originals! The audience didn’t want it to end. Listen to Aja here:

History being made, and great musical history. Outstanding and enjoyable programs are available one after the other right here in this community. Check out the Alex Theatre or GlendaleArts.org calendar for a long list of great upcoming events.
