Need Transportation Options? Glendale TMA Survey+Raffle for Commuters February 10-23, Walk Bike Glendale Meeting

LZstation benchThe building boom adding close to 4,000 living units in downtown Glendale has raised concerns about traffic and mobility. City management responded to some concerns in a January 29 Glendale News-Press editorial.

If you live or work in the region, decision makers and advocates want to hear your ideas about improving transportation options.

Glendale TMA Commuter Survey February 10-23
Help design an online tool for local commuters: take the survey just released by Glendale Transportation Management Associates, a local nonprofit. Survey participants will be entered in a raffle drawing for $300 in prizes. The five-minute survey, at glendaletma.net/survey, is open Monday, February 10 through Sunday, February 23.

The cities of Glendale, Pasadena and Burbank have partnered with Glendale TMA and technical firm Acire, Inc., to develop a free, online commute planning system. The system will serve as a centralized resource for commuters to manage travel options and services, and it will provide incentives for using transit, carpool, vanpools, biking or walking. Funded by the Los Angeles County MTA through a competitive grant process along with contributions by all five partners, the program is set to launch in October 2014.

Before finalizing development, project partners are seeking input from those who live and/or work in Glendale, Pasadena or Burbank, to better understand where they are traveling, how they access information, and what incentives will encourage them to try alternative modes. “The Commute Manager System will contribute to the economy and community of the Arroyo Verdugo region by making it easier to use alternative travel modes, which reduce traffic congestion, save commuters money and improve our air quality,” says Erika Kampe, Glendale TMA’s new director.

The Glendale TMA provides professional expertise and advocacy working as a strategic partner with the public and private sectors, government agencies and community to reduce traffic congestion, improve air quality, accessibility and mobility, to enrich the quality of life in Glendale and adjacent areas.
