fol_headThe Friends of the Glendale Public Library annual membership meeting, set for Wednesday, May 15, 6:30-7pm in the Central Library Auditorium, will cover sponsored programs, fundraising and membership, new initiatives, and the anticipated renovation of the Central Library facility. The brief meeting will conclude with the election of directors for the 2013-2015 term.

The Friends support the Children’s Summer Reading program, the literacy program, and the Author & Artist programs of the city’s library system.

Community Events VP Leon Mayer persuaded Mark Geragos, JD, and Pat Harris, JD, to come to the library to discuss their newly published book, Mistrial: How the Criminal Justice System Works…and Sometimes Doesn’t, in a program immediately following the Friends annual meeting. The authors’ talk begins at 7pm. Geragos is one of the most recognized criminal defense attorneys in the U.S., and he appears regularly as a legal analyst on CNN, Fox, and ABC shows. Harris, a partner at Geragos & Geragos is also a regular commentator and most recently appeared on Court TV to discuss the criminal trial of Michael Jackson’s physician Conrad Murray. More information about both authors is on this library event webpage.
