Glendale City Council will review the “Space 134” Concept Study at its regular meeting March 26. Funded by a Southern California Association of Governments grant, the project explores uses for a 134 Freeway cap that include public space, bike stations, convention facilities, and an East-West transit line.
That transit line offers a major benefit: it would connect Glendale with the Red Line to the West and the Gold Line to the East. The project proposes either light rail (LRT) or bus rapid transit (BRT), with a bus line either running along the freeway below or along a new route that intersects with the new freeway cap.
