Recast Cell Phone ‘Right to Know’ Bill Goes to
San Francisco Board of Supervisors

San Francisco’s City Operations & Neighborhood Services Committee unanimously voted to send a modified version of the City’s previously adopted cell phone ‘right-to-know’ legislation to the Board of Supervisors for approval.

An earlier version of the San Francisco ordinance encountered strong opposition from the wireless industry, and the city delayed implementation because of legal uncertainties over the posting of phones’ specific absorption rates (SAR).

The new legislation will make no reference to SAR ratings and will instead inform consumers in San Francisco of ways to minimize radiation exposure during use of cell phones.
