Keep up Glendale Safe and Healthy Streets Momentum

Grant funding for Glendale Safe and Healthy Streets ends June 30, and program driver Colin Bogart will leaving his city desk and returning to the LA Bicycle Coalition. Clearing the path to improve bicycling and walking options in the city will now depend on those who live or work in Glendale.

The City Council unanimously approved the Glendale Safe and Healthy Streets Plan back in April. Many of its policies have not yet been implemented, and an updated bicycle master plan is not yet complete. Meanwhile, the city is under a tremendous budgetary strain.

Establishing a Glendale Bicycling and Pedestrian Advisory Committee is one Plan recommendation which should be acted on now: the city needs dedicated fellow travelers to keep its transportation policies moving in the right direction.
