Garin Hovanissian, Author of Family of Shadows, Speaks Tonight at Glendale Library

“Family of Shadows is not about leaving, it is about returning…ultimately toward a kind of redemption for a century without home,” says Garin Hovanissian in this YouTube preview of his new book.

The book covers his family’s history from great-grandfather Kaspar Hovanissian’s escape from the genocide, to grandfather Richard Hovanissian’s ascension to head of the UCLA Armenian Studies program, to father Raffi Hovanissian’s return to Armenia where he became the first foreign minister of the new republic in 1989.

Garin Hovanissian speaks tonight at the Glendale Public Library at 7 p.m. and will have copies of his new book on hand. Join the community at this FREE Friends of the Library event. Parking at the Maryland garage across the street is available free by validation (stamp at circulation desk – 3 hours free).
