Counting Bicyclists, Pedestrians at Kenneth & Sonora for Safe & Healthy Streets Program

Stationed at Kenneth Road & Sonora Avenue this morning from 7 to 9 a.m., I counted bicyclists and pedestrians leaving each side of the intersection. Volunteers in intersections all over Glendale were doing the same thing, and will be counting again from 3-5 p.m. and 5-7 p.m. today and Saturday.
Glendale’s Safe and Healthy Streets program will compare the data gathered to counts from last September to see how pedestrian and bicycling patterns are developing in the city. The program is also compiling a draft policy document which will be available for community review sometime in October.
Thanks to the Alex Theatre/Glendale Arts, Massage Envy, and Nestle USA, for providing a choice of great gifts to each volunteer. I picked a free ticket voucher to an upcoming performance at the Alex, and also received a Safe and Healthy Streets program T-Shirt.
