Cell Site Outcomes in Kernville, Sherman Oaks

Kernville residents lost their appeal of a Verizon site adjacent to residential properties at a Kern County Board of Supervisors meeting in early August (link to video archive).

Sherman Oaks residents just defeated a T-Mobile cell tower by convincing the area planning commission that T-Mobile hadn’t looked into alternative sites.

  1. RE: Kernville, this 7-story tower will look so obtrusive in a residential setting, what happened to smart planning and zoning. A towering monopine was proposed for a church in residential area of Temple City, CA, but City Council there did not like how obtrusive it would look amidst its surroundings, and the various monopine designs proposed did not meet their aesthetic standards, so they denied. Why couldn’t the Kernville elected reps do the same? Why didn’t city officials and planners take action and help residents find an available suitable alternative location?

  2. Our battle in Kernville was with Verizon, not T-Mobile, but that’s ok, they’re all the same. Verizon never had real alternatives. The “alternatives” they proposed were not thoroughly investigated and there were glaring inconsistencies with their maps and GPS coordinates among other things. The entire process was a sham.

  3. Apologies for the error, which is now corrected.
