Sunshine Week

This is National Sunshine Week, celebrated every March since 2005. A grant from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation funds Sunshine Week activities to inform people about their rights to government information, and freedom of information statutes.

For more information about how to get government information, check the official Sunshine Week website, or the Sunshine Week page on the Society of Professional Journalists website.

The Center for American Progress will be hosting a Sunshine Week event, Building Transparency, in Washington, D.C. on Friday, March 19, featuring speakers from government, media, and public interest groups. The noon to 2 p.m. event will be available via webcast with no registration required.
