Glendale Moving Quickly on Safe and Healthy Streets

An accelerated time line for the 2010-2011 completion of Glendale Safe and Healthy Streets program features several events and outreach, including

March – Downtown Dash Bike Ride

April – bike-pedestrian corridor tree-planting

May – Bike to Work Day, Glendale history rides, Library author event featuring Gil Garetti

June – LA River Ride with participating kids sponsored by Glendale Parks and Recreation Dept., first draft of the Safe and Healthy Streets Plan released for public comment

July – community feedback meetings

August – Volunteer recruitment for the bicycle and pedestrian count in September (last year’s was a lot of fun – consider volunteering!)

Coordinator Colin Bogart presented details on the above and much more planned for next fall and beyond at a meeting last night for stakeholders in the program.

Bogart strongly encouraged everyone present to complete the bicycle and pedestrian survey, and forward the link and request to friends, neighbors, everyone who lives or works in Glendale. Results from the survey will be used to shape the policies in the Safe and Healthy Streets Plan to be adopted by Glendale in 2011.
