Safe Routes to School Program Lauded by
U.S. Dept. of Transportation

The Safe Routes to School Program, focusing on safety improvements and education programs to get more children and families walking and biking to school, got an official plug yesterday from the U.S. Department of Transportation on its blog The Fast Lane. The feature follows meetings last month between Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood and a coalition of bicycling/pedestrian advocacy groups including Safe Routes to School.

The Glendale Unified School District signed on with Safe Routes to School this year, and has been using its programming in area schools to promote traffic and pedestrian safety for students.
