A crowd of several hundred gathered for the Monday morning ribbon cutting at the new Silver Lake Library Branch
The 72nd branch of the LA Public Library system, the Silver Lake library is a showpiece of sustainable design.

Bike racks, drought tolerant landscaping, a new bus stop and a Gold LEED certified building constructed with recycled and renewable materials
Eric Garcetti thanked the MTA, which changed bus route 92 so it would stop along Glendale Blvd. in front of the Library.

13th District Council member Eric Garcetti said the library, new walking paths and new bus route was city planning at its best.
Council member Tom La Bonge presented 13 books to the new 13th District library, including childrens’ books, Los Angeles area guidebooks, histories of the LA Dodgers and the Port of LA, and a John Wooden memoir. La Bonge’s 4th District boundary is right across the street from the library!
Local state assembly representative Paul Krekorian gave the library a flag that had flown over the capitol in Sacramento.
