Beeline Suggestion: More Buses for Students

Increase the number of buses running before and after school hours on routes to and from Glendale Unified Schools, suggests one parent who either drives or sends his children on Metro buses to schools. He wrote in after the Glendale News Press reported that the Beeline will evaluate its routes and fares to control costs.

The buses on routes to schools are so crowded that riders waiting at stops cannot board. If buses ran more frequently at key times, students wouldn’t have to get in a car instead.

Today, another letter to the editor confirmed school hours are busiest for the Beeline, citing the Glendale Community College route. This rider commented that at other times the buses aren’t even full.

Why not reschedule Beeline buses to make it easier for students to use them in the mornings and afternoons? They would disembark together and walk in groups for a few blocks, increasing safety as they are more visible to drivers. Busy parents wouldn’t have to inch through school drop-off gridlock, and congestion on streets around the schools would ease.
