Under the Paperweight, September 12-19, 2009

Sunroom Desk’s editor has been observing and commenting on the rapid changes in fortune for traditional print and broadcast media. Under the Paperweight this week were journalistic video scoops produced on a small budget, published, and publicized first on a newly-launched independent website, www.biggovernment.com.

Videos of ACORN employees trying to help two people posing as would-be criminals were posted and discussed primarily on the internet (but also on Fox news, which continuously pointed out that other major media channels were ignoring the story) until the U.S. Senate voted overwhelmingly to cut ACORN’s federal funding. The story continued to unfold last week, as newspapers and broadcast media followed it.

Here’s a summary today from U.S. News and World Report.
