Glendale Police Dept Ends 24-Hour Front Desk:
Lobby Staffed 7 a.m.-7 p.m. Starting July 26

Received from Glendale APB:

On Sunday July 26th, the Glendale Police Department will operate new business hours for citizens. Traditionally the Glendale Police Department lobby doors were open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and all holidays. For 365 days a year citizens could walk into the Police Department and be greeted by a Police Officer. Due to budgetary constraints and the need to effectively respond to emergency calls for service, officers who were previously assigned to what was know as the “Front Desk,” will now be deployed in the field during the hours of 7 p.m. and 7a.m., seven days a week. The lobby will also be closed on New Years Day, Martin Luther King Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.

Although the lobby doors will be closed during the evening hours, an emergency phone has been installed with a video camera. Utilizing this phone will automatically connect the citizen to the Police Dispatch Center. Officers in the field can be dispatched to the lobby to provide service.

From home, office or your cell phone the Glendale Police Department can be reached at 818-548-4840 or 818-548-4911 for general information. In emergency situations, please dial 911.

The Glendale Police Department’s new hours of operation are very similar to those of neighboring cities such as Pasadena and Burbank.
