Letter Sent to Assemblymember Paul Krekorian,
State Senator Carol Liu re Thursday budget vote

To our representatives:

California voters rejected the legislature’s May 2009 budget propositions because they used taxes, borrowing and accounting maneuvers instead of cutting the budget to match current revenue levels.

The current proposed budget borrows heavily from municipalities and still uses accounting tricks to balance the books.

California could force Glendale to forfeit approximately $17 million of city funds under this proposal, with no guarantee that it will solve the state fiscal crisis as revenues continue to fall.

This is unacceptable and as your constituent I urge you to reject the proposal.

State legislators passed budgets, created programs, and accepted obligations that have exceeded revenues. Cut the budget, don’t borrow from cities and counties.
