Question: Farmers' Markets of this type appear to be springing up in many locations throughout the Los Angeles area. Have Farmers' Markets in other locations proven to stimulate business for the existing local merchants? Or are farmers' markets simply a clever attempt by farmers' market promoters to find yet another venue for their own collection of street vendors?

A farmers' market at the Americana is quite different from one in Kenneth Village because most of the the Americana's businesses do not sell fresh fruits and vegetables. The Americana's restaurants tend to be higher-end establishments that do not sell deli sandwiches (as many farmers market vendors tend to sell).

Accordingly, the farmers' market vendors at the Americana are not competing with existing businesses selling (for example) books, apparel, or other dissimilar merchandise. However, in Kenneth Village, a higher percentage of the existing businesses do sell food, drinks, and other products that the farmers' market vendors will be selling.
