Glendale History Bike Ride Celebrates Bicycling, Recycling, and Reuse

Tropico Station’s blogger is working with PLACE grant coordinator Colin Bogart on this Saturday’s Glendale History Bike Ride, announced on Tropico Station (which also featured this doctored historical image used for event promotion) and on the Glendale Safe and Healthy Streets Plan website (which has detailed directions).

The route includes a stop at Glendale’s Recycling Center for its Earth Day Open House. All visitors to the center this Saturday will receive a free reusable tote bag (as long as supplies last, I imagine), and one person will win a drawing for a free bicycle. The route will also pass by the Grand Central Air Terminal, which awaits a grand creative concept for reuse, and ascend to Brand Library – an outstanding example of adaptive reuse.

If the uphill route gets too strenuous, there may be provision made for those who’ll go as far as “base camp” (Kenneth Village). Check out the other sites and the Glendale Historical Society for information, and celebrate Glendale history with its bicycling community!
