Under the Paperweight, March 8-14, 2009
The Sunroom Desk blog doesn’t leave much time for channel surfing; most of the news about broadcast or cable media come to the editor via internet video links. I couldn’t help but follow last week’s Jon Stewart/CNBC/Jim Cramer feud, though. Plenty of great links were available last week on the subject; three are DVD-length excerpts stacked under the Paperweight. They all speak for themselves.
President Obama’s comments on AIG bonuses today reflect their sentiments as well. How is it that this nation is literally handing millions of dollars in taxpayer money,
How can any politician, economist, or businessman say with a straight face that we need these people in those positions? I say, “Kick them all out and ask laid-off factory workers and retail clerks to step in!”
Also found under the Paperweight are two articles about President Obama’s education program, and a Wall Street Journal article on the Orwellian overtones of the title “Free Choice,” on a proposed bill giving unions the ability to intimidate workers into joining. These three articles are filed for a planned post on needed changes in the public education system.
The most surreal moment was a quote I heard today from Barney Frank, who scolded AIG for giving bonuses to their employees. He was shocked, SHOCKED, that they were misusing public money. Really, Barney?
